Meet Our Pastor and First Family

"And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding."

- Jeremiah 3:15

Apostle J. Michael & Lady Ayisha Sherman

Apostle J. Michael Sherman is an ordained minister, keynote speaker, public theologian, author, and pastoral counselor whose life and work span the pulpit, the counseling room, the classroom, and the public square. Called to ministry over 26 years ago, he has served as a lead pastor for 18 of those years, planting and leading congregations in Alabama before establishing roots in Augusta, Georgia, where he has served Covenant Family Church for 16 years. Led by the Spirit and affirmed by his board, he oversaw the planting of Covenant Revival Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, and has provided apostolic covering and leadership oversight to ministry fellowship sites in Aiken, South Carolina, Waynesboro, Georgia, and Nairobi, Kenya through a partnership with Candlelight Ministries.

Under his leadership, Covenant Family Church has grown into more than a congregation. It is a movement that transcends the barriers of religion, tradition, culture, race, and politics, calling believers into a deeper, more authentic, and more courageous relationship with God and with one another.

Apostle Sherman also serves as the founder and leader of Apex School of the Prophets, a ministry school dedicated to the development and activation of spiritually gifted individuals called to prophetic ministry and Kingdom purpose.

Beyond the local church, he is the founder of Catalyst Community Counseling in Augusta, Georgia, where he provides faith-informed counseling and coaching to individuals, couples, and ministry leaders navigating identity, relationships, and personal transformation. His academic training spans the behavioral and social sciences, graduate-level theological education, and graduate-level psychology, equipping him to engage the complex intersection of faith, identity, and human behavior with intellectual honesty, spiritual discernment, and practical clarity.

As an author, Apostle Sherman has published The Blackprint: Proven Laws for Success and The Ministry of Christ: Forgiveness and Oneness, works that reflect his commitment to equipping believers with both spiritual foundation and practical tools for living with purpose and integrity. He is a listed speaker with All American Speakers Bureau and carries his message to conference stages, university forums, leadership events, and civic gatherings across the country.

Lady Ayisha Sherman is a licensed professional counselor and active PhD candidate in counselor supervision, bringing clinical excellence and academic rigor to her work with individuals and families. Her approach integrates evidence-based practice with faith-informed care, making her a trusted voice for those navigating emotional health, relational challenges, and personal growth.

Within Covenant Family Church, Lady Ayisha leads the women’s support ministry and serves as the founder of the Charm Program, a transformative initiative for teenage girls focused on social etiquette, sexual responsibility, and personal development. Her heart for women and young girls reflects a calling that is both pastoral and deeply practical.

Known affectionately throughout the congregation as Lady A, she carries the role of First Lady not as a title but as a true expression of who she is. She models humility and strength in the same breath, demonstrating that a woman can be fully submitted to God, devoted to her family, and completely herself all at once. She is kind, caring, and genuinely full of Christ, and those who encounter her feel it without being told. She does not demand honor. She simply lives in a way that makes it impossible to withhold.

Together, Apostle Sherman and Lady Ayisha bring a rare combination of pastoral authority, clinical expertise, and community leadership to everything they do. They make their home in Augusta, GA with their son, Isaac, and three daughters, Kaylynn, Amil, and Nia.
